If there’s one game this writer in particular is excited for next year, it’s Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Sure, Uncharted 4 is going to be great, but there’s something about diving back into the world of augmented badass Adam Jensen that’s got me all kinds of excited. From the looks of the title’s newest gameplay trailer–which you can check out above–Jensen is back and better than ever, and probably still not asking for any of this.
In the time that’s passed since Human Revolution’s conclusion, the world has grown to despise the augments. But, it’s also given Jensen time to train and improve his skills. The video’s description explains: “He is now an experienced covert operative, forced to operate in a world that has grown to despise his kind. Armed with a new arsenal of state-of-the-art weapons and augmentations, he must choose the right approach, along with who to trust, in order to unravel a vast worldwide conspiracy.”
In addition to showing off some of the title’s new locations, including Dubai and Prague, the trailer also featured some of Jensen’s new gun-arm augmentations. As the name suggests, the Tesla, the Nanoblade, and PEPS are directly integrated into his arm and are able to be quickly switched out. “It’s all about giving you more tools to approach a given situation any way you want – lethal or non-lethal, combat or stealth, or a little bit of everything!” stated Eidos-Montréal’s community manager Sascha Ramtohul, over on the PlayStation Blog.
While Adam is clearly a deadly threat, the great thing about the Deus Ex series is that the protagonist is perfectly capable of going full stealth and neutralizing threats without harming a single person. There are a ton of ways to play.
