“Achewood,” Animated

If you are a webcomics fan, you know Achewood. And if you are a fan of Achewood, you know that it’s been a long, long time since we’ve seen anything new from Chris Onstad; there hasn’t been a new strip since last year. But the above video might offer some explanation: It appears that there’s an animated Achewood being pitched this week.

It’s all very tentative, and the video is just a series of little clips giving you the idea of how the characters will move, but it’s conceivable that Ray, Roast Beef, Philippe, Teodor et al. might have a new life in animation. It’ll be interesting to see how the strip’s unique humor, dialogue, and pacing translate to animation, but for readers of the strip, it’s promising news.

Here’s Onstad’s blog post talking about his plans. It closes with the lines, “I’ll be in touch. I’m back around.” That’s good to hear.
