ABC’s THE WHISPERS Will Creep You The F Out

Steven Spielberg and aliens: two things that go together almost as well as Chris Hardwick and Doctor Who… almost. While Falling Skies sets its sights on another crazy season for this summer on TNT, the good folks over at Amblin Television are already gearing up for next year on broadcast with their latest offering, the ABC drama The Whispers. Formerly titled The Visitors, today ABC offered up our first look at the series in a meaty, all new, three minute trailer:

Based on the Ray Bradbury short story “Zero Hour,” The Whispers appears it could be the sleeper hit of next season. It’s hitting all the right beats in this initial trailer – especially in the creepy category – and the drama element is most certainly there. What makes or breaks a show like this more than anything else is the range of the cast’s child actors, and it seems, at least so far, that they’re bringing the goods. It’s a smart move for ABC to bring the show in mid-season — it’ll require less episodes, which should ultimately lead to a stronger brand of story-telling for the series itself.

If there’s one thing we love around these parts, it’s aliens, and The Whispers looks like a fine addition to our extraterrestrial TV viewing slate, especially with a cast that includes American Horror Story‘s fantastic Lily Rabe and Revenge‘s Barry Sloane. A little something for everyone. Now, where did we leave those tree house blue prints?

  1. The real Carrie says:

Homeland meets Sesame Street sounds interesting. They even have their own Carrie and Brody. We’ll see, on either the TV or downloaded episode online.

  2. arlesh says:

Will definitely watch. I’m familiar with the Bradbury story (it was either on Twilight Zone/Outer Limits or as an old time radio broadcast) and it is good.

  3. SD says:

I guess we’ll just graze over shirtless, tat-ridden Milo “Jesus” Ventimiglia then.

  4. Sean says:

    Formally titled?  Or formerly titled?
