In most adult establishments when you have to call the guy serving the drinks three times it means you’re being ignored, but something tells us plenty of people will be doing it intentionally at the new bar and restaurant Beetle House, an establishment entirely inspired by the works of Tim Burton. If the director has taught us anything, it’s that calling out a name three times in a row is a surefire way to conjure the person you want.
Recently opened in New York City’s East Village, the new bar pays homage to the director and his films, both in concept and on the drink and food menus (“It’s Halloween all year long!”). We first came across this new at EW, and now we can’t wait to get down there to sample enough beverages to recreate our own version of Planet of the Apes. You’ll want to go over all of their dining and libation options at their website, but we’re looking forward to ordering a couple of Itâs Showtimes (Bulleit Rye whiskey, two shots of espresso, simple syrup, dash of Peychaud’s bitters, lemon peel garnish), a Jack Skellington (Bacardi Rum, creme de coconut, lime juice, topped with crushed ice and orange zest), and a Big Fish Bowl for you two (vodka, Malibu rum, Blue Curacao liqueur, sweet-and-sour mix, pineapple juice, Sprite, Nerds candy, Swedish fish candies). That one sounds like a perfect option for you and your Corpse Bride.
Of course it might be smart to order some food before all those drinks. Maybe start with Veruca Salted honey wings, followed by a Love It Meat Pie with a side of Charlie Corn Bucket, and finish up with a Warm Wonka Bar chocolate cake.
Rumors say they were also thinking of opening up a sister store next doorâa barbershop, but they decided that wouldn’t cut it.
