A Taser Striking Bare Skin at 28,000fps is Shocking

The Slow Mo Guys YouTube channel has a simple premise: film interesting things happening at incredibly high frame rates. And they consistently prove that even the mundane slowed down looks amazing, from a dude sitting inside a giant water balloon to the shattering of a CD. A taser is a bit more intense, and just as interesting.

Slow Mo Guy Gavin went to Taser headquarters in Arizona to film both the deployment and effects of this shocking weapon. In the video above (slightly graphic if you don’t like needles), Gavin turns the camera all the way up to 28,000 frames per second (in HD!) to watch a Taser shoot confetti and impact a volunteer’s bare skin.

At that frame rate, you can actually see the muscles tense up across volunteer Dan’s back from right to left. Fifty-thousand volts also makes you involuntarily let out a scream like a speared bear, apparently. Oh, and that confetti is used to identify what cartridges have been fired, not to celebrate a bro’s tasing.

Stick around for the end of the video if you want to see the Taser barbs pulled out of Dan’s skin, but don’t if you’re squeamish.
