A New Trailer For the Coen Brothers’ INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS

There’s a new trailer for the highly-anticipated Coen Brothers movie Inside Llewyn Davis, with more new footage of the tale of a folksinger in early 1960’s Greenwich Village, and it looks pretty excellent, and plenty Coen-ish. It ends the same way previous trailers do, with the titular Dylanesque (really, Dave Van Ronk-esque) singer asked by F. Murray Abraham to play something from the album “Inside Llewyn Davis” and, just as he’s about to play a chord (which you don’t hear), the credits hit. The trailer opens with Llewyn (Oscar Isaac) in a car relating to a Caesar-haired John Goodman how he’d been part of a double act but his partner had jumped off the George Washington Bridge (the Brooklyn Bridge, Goodman advises, is the way it’s usually done), and goes on to quick clips from a week in the struggling singer’s life. There are glimpses of Justin Timberlake looking suitably folkie. Carey Mulligan’s in it. And a cat.

Look, I’m in for any Coen Brothers movie, but this one just has that see-it-opening-night feel to it for me. You, on the other hand, may disagree. So, you looking forward to it? Limited release December 6th and wide release December 20th. See you there.

It looks good. I tend to avoid sad films, but I may give this a try.

Hey, I totally agree. It was good. I am not sure if it is a Christmas time movie though. Maybe if I want a little less Christmas and a little more reality during this time. The message looks good however.
