It’s been five years since Scrubs went off the air (and nearly five since the ill-conceived final reboot-type season), but we still haven’t lost our love of Sacred Heart and its various weird employees and patients. The show (which is available to watch in its entirety on Netflix) was as out-there bonkers as a network comedy was allowed to get but it still had some of the saddest and most dramatic moments that could tug on the ol’ heartstrings. It was clear from watching the program that the cast were all big fans of each other and enjoyed being weird in their little insular hopspital world.
And it’s pretty clear that they did get along great as evidenced by a picture recently posted to Zach Braff’s Instagram depicting a mini-reunion wherein Braff (JD), Donald Faison (Turk), and John C. McGinley (Dr. Cox) are back together and it feels so good.
How delightful to see these three together again, and clearly Braff’s fans agree judging from the comments.
The bromance (gross and sorry for using that term) between JD and Turk was well documented on the show, and that seems to have translated offscreen. Some of our favorite moments on the show involved the two of them being as dorky as possible. Here’s one.
And we also loved all the times Dr. Cox yelled at JD and called him girl names.
Man, that was a great show. Let’s watch it all over again!
The final season wasn’t all bad – it gave us a lot of early Elize Coupe and Dave Franco, who were fun.
I enjoyed the final season, and I think it may have improved given the opportunity, but it very much paled in comparison to the epic greatness of prior seasons. Also, there was a sense of sadness I couldn’t shake while watching it, as I very much missed what it once was.
The real issue with the final season was that ABC wouldn’t allow Bill Lawrence to call it a spin-off. Scrubs: Med School had a great cast and only got one season due to over-dependence on being “the same show.”
