A David Lynch Tribute Album Is Coming this Month

There are tributes all around this April, from David to David. Thankfully David Lynch is still with us for his, a tribute album titled The Music of David Lynch. Today’s announcement for the upcoming double LP comes less than a week after two New York tribute shows celebrating “The Music of David Bowie.”

Lynch had his own tribute show last year at LA’s Ace Hotel in celebration of the David Lynch Foundation’s 10th Anniversary. The concert featured a variety of artists, each performing a song from the visionary director’s catalog and film/television repertoire.

Among the performers were The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd, My Morning Jacket’s Jim James, Moby, Twin Peaks (no relation), and Lynch’s frequent musical collaborator, Angelo Badalamenti. Those recordings have been assembled into a two-disc album and will be available on April 15 via Communion.

Lynch’s Foundation, which has provided scholarships to more than 500,000 people suffering from trauma, also recently sponsored a New York show that featured Flying Lotus and seminal producer Jon Hopkins. Should you exhaust the Lynchian rabbit holes that The Music of David Lynch takes you down, I recommend that you explore their music. Take a quick 20-minute TM break, flip on “Open Eye Signal” or “Zodiac Shit,” and get astral. You need to get prepared for the upcoming season of Twin Peaks, after all.
