A CURE FOR WELLNESS Trailer Induces Anxiety the Right Way

We might need to speak to a medical professional if the upcoming film A Cure for Wellness delivers on any of the anxiety-inducing shots the trailers have given us so far.

The film, directed by Gore Verbinski, follows a young executive played by Dane DeHaan (The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Chronicle) sent to a wellness center deep in the Swiss alps to retrieve his company’s CEO. As you can gather from the trailers, he soon discovers that things aren’t quite as they seem and will likely regret ever taking the job. The staff at the wellness center seem just about as damaged as the other guests and there’s something deeply unnerving about how isolated everything feels.  The trailers have given us a fair share to wonder about as to how extreme the therapy is at this center and, if you’re anything like us, the creep-factor to medical-related horror is something we’re certainly not immune to.

Adding to the overall uneasiness of the film is the fact we’ve rarely seen DeHaan in a flat-out good-guy role, so we’ll likely be doubting his motives as much as anyone else’s. From what we’ve seen so far, there’s more questions than there are answers. Due to the “CEO’s underling on a mission” scenario, are we in for an old timey Ex Machina? Or can we expect something more akin to Shutter Island or maybe even The Shining?

Whatever horrors the film has in store, we don’t have to wait too long as the the film is set to come out later this month (February 17th)

What are your thoughts on the film? Let’s discuss in the comments below!
