What do you get when you mix iconic tunes from Sonic and Megaman? A kicking beat, of course. Now add 18 more songs and you have yourself a fresh 5-minute mix. The musical wizard behind the YouTube channel ThePeterson has done it again, this time tackling video game music. He has mashed-up a mix of twenty songs to create one smooth track that will surely put you in the right mood to kick some virtual tail. Even better, there are short clips of gameplay in the background in case you needed that extra jolt of recognition. Some personal favorites include “Green Hill Zone” theme from Sonic, The Fury theme from Metal Gear Solid, and can’t forget the Corneria theme from Star Fox. “Pure bliss for your ears” would probably be the best way to describe it.
Most of The Peterson’s videos are dedicated to remembering the good ol’ days by taking a year and mashing-up some popular music that’ll bring nostalgic goodness to your heart and brain. Some of the videos do include clips from video games as background fodder but aren’t heavily included in the mash-up. This video features the subtitle “Part 1,” so hopefully there will be more mixes with even more iconic games to come in the near future.
For the most part, video game music is ignored and mostly only appreciated by the most hardcore fans, so having a mix to sample some classic music is appreciated. Here is the full list of songs included in the video, you know, just in case you are feeling up to listening to the full songs.
