Zachary Quinto Will Be on the Couch for HANNIBAL Season 3

NBC’s recent success with dramas seems to be slipping as of late. While their series The Blacklist was a ratings giant last season, it has started to see a decline in viewership with its sophomore outing. Their new series don’t seem to be fairing well either. Espionage thrillers Allegiance and State Of Affairs both premiered to less-than-impressive numbers and have seen them slowly dwindling since. Even their star-studded mini-series The Slap has not been able to capture the audience they so desperately want to wrestle away from ABC. Hopefully, NBC will be able to rely more on previously established series like Hannibal when it returns for a third season this summer.

In a story posted by Entertainment Weekly, it has been announced that Zachary Quinto will be joining the cast of Hannibal for it’s third season. While it is not yet confirmed if the guest starring role will extend to more than one episode, it seems Quinto will be laying out on the couch as a new patient of Gillian Anderson’s character Bedelia. The irony in this, of course, comes at the expense of Quinto’s previous work on FX’s American Horror Story: Asylum, in which he played a psychiatrist who was also secretly a serial killer known as Bloody Face. It seems the failing ratings of their limited series The Slap, which Quinto is one of the main cast members of, are not enough for him to lose faith in the network. After all, it was NBC that gave Quinto his breakout role back in 2006 with their series Heroes, which Hannibal‘s executive producer Bryan Fuller was also involved with.
