Zach Galifianakis And Kristen Wiig Team Up In MASTERMINDS

Coming to theaters this summer is the new comedy starring Zach Galifianakis And Kristen Wiig.

According to IMDB.com, Masterminds is crime caper described as “A night guard at an armored car company in the Southern U.S. organizes one of the biggest bank heists in American history.”

Galifianakis and Wiig are joined by an all-star cast of comedic heavy hitters including Owen Wilson, Jason Sudeikis, Ken Marino,  As if those names don’t supply more than enough laughs, the cast is rounded off further by It’s Always Sunny In Philidelphia’s Mary Elizabeth Ellis , Kroll Show’s Jon Daly, and SNL cast members and future busters of ghosts Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon.

The trailer, while a bit heavy handed on the Galifianakis slapstick, is actually based on the real 1997 Loomis Fargo Robbery where $17.3 million in cash was taken from the Charlotte, North Carolina, regional office vault of Loomis Fargo & Company. The real heist resulted in roughly 20 arrests and probably not that much laughter so chances are we can likely expect there won’t be much more real life comparisons other than the heist itself and some character names. However, we’re at least hoping the hairstyles are accurate to 1997 North Carolina.

Directed by Jared Hess, whose other claims to fame include Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre, is joined by Fist Foot Way and Eastbound and Down writer Jody Hill. This alone, we suspect, will make the film continually watchable as their body of work has supplied some of the bigger cult comedy hits over the last decade or so. We’re also hoping this one will certainly supply some lasting quotes.

What do you think of Masterminds? It’ll undoubtedly be better than the other one starring Sir Patrick Stewart.  Let us know what you think in the comments.
