Your Next Uber Ride Could Be Your Big Musical Break Thanks to Uber’s New Initiative

You know how some aspiring rappers try to get their start by finding an established figure out in public and hoping to impress them with their skills in a very limited time frame? It’s happened to Kanye West at least a couple times in the past few years (here and here), for example.

Well, Uber, which has become less of a way to get around and more of a lifestyle, has a new initiative that will make that process a bit easier (and less invasive on the personal lives of celebrities). It’s called #UberBigBreak, and here’s how it works: use the promo code BIGBREAK and you could have the opportunity to audition for powerful figures in the music industry, all while traveling to your destination. According to Forbes, representatives “Warner Music, the Country Music Association (CMA), the country-music website Rare Country, and other high-profile companies” are involved.

So if you’re an aspiring musician, go ahead and try out that promo code, and maybe always have your guitar and some room-temperature water handy, just in case your next ride happens to be your big break.

This is just the latest of Uber’s endeavors into the music industry, as they have previously provided on-side travel at music festivals, as well as exclusive concert opportunities for its users. They also have a partnership with Spotify, which allows users to control the vehicle’s audio with their phones and play the music that they want to hear.
