Your First Look at LEGO’s New HARRY POTTER Hogwarts Great Hall Set is Here

It’s one thing for Hogwarts to have forgotten to send us our acceptance letter, but you’d think after all these years they would have at least tried to make up for that unfortunate oversight by inviting us over for dinner in their Great Hall, but no. Fortunately for us, LEGO will soon make it possible for us to be transported to one of the most famous rooms in the entire wizarding world with a magical new Harry Potter set that includes some of our favorite characters and magical artifacts.

In the second half of this year LEGO will release a new collection of sets inspired by the world of J.K. Rowling, for both Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts. They’ll be giving a sneak peek at their first announced one at this week’s New York Toy Fair, an upcoming 878-piece, four-level Hogwarts Great Hall building, which will Portkey into stores August 1st. But you don’t have to be in the Big Apple, or wait until this summer to see it, because we have your first look at it right now.

As diehards of both the movies and novels, this set was clearly put together by someone who loves the franchise as much as we do. Because while it includes some obvious pieces like a fireplace, benches, tables, the Sorting Hat, brooms, wands, cauldrons, a trophy cup, food (for Ron—obviously), and reversible house banners, it also comes with floating candles, has both a treasure and potions room, and features a tower with a spiral staircase that leads to the Mirror of Erised—with changeable pictures.

The set’s 10 mini-figures also include some characters and touches fans will love, because in addition to Harry, Ron, Hermione, Draco, Professor McGonagall, Hagrid (with his “umbrella”), and Dumbledore, you can dine with Susan Bones, Nearly Headless Nick, and Professor Quirrel, who has a dual Lord Voldemort face you can spin around. Hedwig and Scabbers are also along for the school year, as are build-able Basilisk and Fawkes figures (and Fawkes even gets his own roosting spot).

And if you want to arrive at this Great Hall, which stands 14-inches tall, 6-inches wide, 11-inches deep, and will retail for $99.99 U.S. ($129.99 Canadian), the way you were meant to as a First Year, the set even has a boat with hanging lantern. You can get it from LEGO now.

Does this make up for never getting our Hogwarts acceptance letter we know must have been lost by some blind owl? No, but at least we now we can enter the Great Hall whenever we’d like.

Which piece or figure in this set are you most excited for? What other Harry Potter sets do you hope LEGO announces this year? Send an owl with your thoughts into our comments below.
