Your D.I.C.E. 2014 Game Of The Year: THE LAST OF US

Some of you may remember it as the game that made you throw bricks and bottles to stay alive. Others may remember it as a compelling narrative about a lost old man who grows to love a tormented young girl, wise beyond her years. Most of us will remember it for that gorgeous and compelling giraffe sequence that displayed so much beauty, fighting the tears was about as pointless as facing a pack of clickers without a Shiv. Now, we can all honor it as the D.I.C.E. 2014 Game Of The Year.

The Last Of Us took home GOTY honors along with 9 other awards throughout the night, including Adventure Game Of The Year, Outstanding Character Performance for Ashley Johnson’s portrayal of Ellie, and Outstanding Achievement in Game Direction. Other winners include Bioshock Infinite, which came away with a pair of awards, winning Action Game Of The Year and Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Composition, and World Of Tanks, which took the honors for Online Game Of The Year.

So 10 out of 13, huh, Naughty Dog? If it were anything but well deserved, I’d be the first one calling you guys stingy. It looks like the 20 winners for our D.I.C.E. Swag Bag giveaway have just been narrowed down. While you’re waiting for us to announce the winner of our contest, here’s a look at the full list of victors from the award show. Really enjoyed the “Award Show”. The Last of Us is such a great game! It deserved to win. Maybe I also deserve it and will be one of the lucky two to win the Grand Prize Bundle^^ Let’s hope 🙂

  2. Matt M says:

Sure thing there, man. Need a refill of the Haterade?

Congrats to Naughty Dog and the rest of the winners, including D3.

  3. Don says:

Diablo 3 winning, well, anything, pretty much kills any credibility here. Unless there was an award for “Most Disappointing, Hopes-And-Expectations-Crushing Game of the Year”. Cuz, y’know, then it would dominate.
