Fans have been clamoring for a continuation of Young Justice, and after nearly five years of waiting since the animated series was canceled after its second season, season three is set to hit in early 2019. To get fans even more excited for the show’s long awaited return, DC Universe has released a new trailer for the forthcoming season, Young Justice: Outsiders, set to premiere on January 4. Watch:
According to the official description, Young Justice: Outsiders continues the story with our heroes still dealing with the events of season two while facing the new threat of metahuman teen trafficking and the intergalactic arms race for control of the super-powered youths. To get fans up to speed on the new season, DC Universe members will have access to enhanced episodes from the first two seasons, new original prequel comic book chapters, and a behind-the-scenes documentary featuring DC Daily host and Young Justice voice talent Whitney Moore.
The new trailer shows gives us a lot of footage for the new season, and it shows we are getting the classic Batman and the Outsiders team line-up from the ’80s. We imagine Nightwing will take the reins on that team in short order. It also looks like Deathstroke is taking on a more prominent role this season. Several New Gods characters are sprinkled throughout, meaning the creators of Young Justice have not forgotten the Darkseid-heavy cliffhanger from the show’s second season.
