Young Han Solo and Darth Vader Talk Politics in MILLENNIAL FALCON: Episode 2

It can be a little awkward for everyone involved when you sit down to dinner with your girlfriend’s father for the first time. That’s especially true if you are a young space smuggler trying to find common ground with her Sith Lord dad. But if you think it’s uncomfortable to discuss the merits of your career choices in today’s unforgiving economy, that’s nothing compared to addressing the third rail of boyfriend/father topics these days–the evil emperor now leading the galaxy.

Which is just what happens in the second episode of our new Star Wars-inspired series, Millennial Falcon, which tells a very different type of young Han Solo story. This week, Princess Leia begs Han and Darth Vader to get along for her sake, but that proves almost impossible as they discuss religion, work, and–most of all–the man who Darth Vader worked so hard to put into power. The same man the millennial Han finds so reprehensible.

It’s the same scenario we imagine is playing out at dinner tables across the galaxy far, far away right now, though we also guess few others result in the drawing of a blaster and a lightsaber. (Good thing they didn’t debate the need for sensible lightsaber regulations.)

Considering Darth has been known to Force choke anyone that displeases him, last week’s adventures in Space Tinder and love don’t seem nearly as bad for Han.

But let this be a lesson for us all, because whether we voted Jedi or Sith, sometimes it’s best not to discuss politics at the dinner table.
