You Made It Weird #78: Brent Weinbach

Brent Weinbach (Conan! The Legacy Music Hour podcast!) is hands down one of the weirdest guests we’ve ever had. Pete felt conflicted about this conversation for DAYS after recording it because how do you navigate a person like Brent?! Holy cow. He out weirded our weirdest weirdness in a hilarious and fun way. Great ep, great guest, WEIRD TIMES WITH PAT HALMS.

  1. Mister Annoyed says:

This host is annoying and loud, if I were Brent I would’ve left.

  2. Annoyed says:

Whoever hosts this show is loud and annoying.

  3. James says:

How is Brent’s weirdness any worse than Pete’s inability, as a man in his mid-thirties, to have a conversation without pathologically interrupting people, or interjecting his own inanities born of self-importance, or drowning people out constantly with his over-the-top and often insincere laughter?

How is Brent’s weirdness any worse than Pete’s pathetic need to be loved and praised, or his need to minister to people about his newfound veganism and how to live his version of a “good life”(since he no longer ministers about religion – old wine, new bottle)? Because Pete admits to it and “owns” it? What good is owning a character flaw (and yes, these are flaws, not simply “quirks”) if you continue to embody them, as Pete so obstinately does ? Give me a break.

I don’t know the backstory between these two, but Pete was being awfully pushy from the get-go and even admitted that there is something in Brent that brings out his inner bully. I really found Pete to be more obnoxious than usual, no matter how much he masked his contempt with superficial laughter, and I certainly don’t question why someone would have a hard time being straight forward about their less desirable qualities in that context.

P.S. I took the liberty of checking out a few of Brent’s videos on YouTube and I have to say that while he may not be as savvy as Pete when it comes to tireless self-promotion, he’s a better natural talent. I generally like Pete’s podcast (although that fact might not be reflected here), but his show and his stand-up are hit-or-miss, with a lot more miss than hit.
