Pete Holmes has a perfect laugh to be joker in a Batman cartoon.

  2. Kevin Thurman says:

    Pete,
I love your laugh. It is the only one that can rival my wife for loudness and breadth. I really really loved the ending talk about religion. I thought it was insightful, funny, and tender. Great stuff. The entire podcast actually inspired me to go to my first open mic Friday night. Thank you so much. Though, maybe after Friday night I will be cursing you and John Mulaney’s names. haha

  3. Julia says:

your bromance with john mulaney is great.

  4. Gene says:

Pete, this is the first time I’ve listened to you { my son told me about YMIW} I had no idea who you were, glad I do now. You are almost as good at interviews as Mark M. but you seem to be getting there fast.I’ve been a fan of Mulaneys for a couple of month’s now,and i hope he’ll come to the Count Basie theatre in Red bank,NJ some day soon.I will continue to listen to you in the future Pete,Stay Crispy.

  5. Lillith from Frasier, Bob Sacamano-other off-stage characters.

You should get Casey Wilson or Michaela Watkins as a constrast to SNL working out and being a place they felt such creative freedom.

  6. Kramerica says:

Pete, I love you, but you’ve gotta quiet down sometimes and let the guest talk. Mulaney’s one of my favorites and there were too many times when he had to quiet you down to get a word in edgewise about his own career. You’re smart and awesome and I love it best when you have an evenly matched ping pong game between another smart and awesome guy rather than seeing you bounce the ball on your side

Love you, love your show. YOu’re the best Pete, I only let you know this out of love

  7. Thomas says:

Pete, I can’t tell you how much I enjoy your podcast, because I don’t… GeeHeeeee! F*ck Me Forever. I LOVE your podcast, Pete. (Please have thought that was funny). Listening to you laugh puts a smile on my dumb face after a long day of working in a hospital full of terminally ill puppies…. How sad would that be? No, I actually work at a real hospital and your show is a great reminder to keep life vibrant and light. This was a great episode and your new prospective show is very exciting. You deserve great things, Pete. Your carefree and brave attitude <–(Is that a thing?) towards trying new things, like impressions, without consequence of judgment is something I'm trying to incorporate into my life. For example, I'm posting this fairly long, personal comment full of risque jokes in the open. And I decided to learn a new musical instrument I've always wanted to: ukulele. I want to be Hawaiian. Or maybe I just like pineapple a lot. Either way. Thank you Pete.

John, I remember your "I love it" sketch on weekend update. I always wanted you to do a lot more of that, because it was clever.

Ok, I'm officially a crazy guy for writing all this.

Or maybe I'm just a weirdo.
    Thanks Pete,

    Thomas

  8. I just wanted to say that I enjoyed this episode. I also like this podcast a great deal! Thank you Pete!

  9. Pete Holmes says:

Jake, that was Matt Braunger live in chicago! I love it too. Zach, I love that a seven year old did a joke of mine organically (it really did make me laugh) but since I think you want one, here’s a joking “fuck you forever!” Sorry about your divorce, hang in there!

  10. Jake says:

It wasn’t Mulaney who made a negative reference to Pete’s ex-wife on one of the live shows, was it? Whoever it was, Mulaney’s remarks towards her filled me with the same perverse delight as that since Pete is usually so even-keeled about her.

  11. Zack says:

Pete. I am getting a divorce. It has been so good to hear you talking so frankly about the subject. You have steadily become one of my favorite comedians. I think you are great but I also think it’s hilarious when people insult you and you react with a false “Fuck you forever.” So I will end with this. My seven year old niece came up with “Prince get mints.” all on her own. She’s seven and coming up with comedy equal to yours.

  12. Marie says:

Yay, John Mulaney! I first heard both of you guys on Pandora and got Impregnated With Wonder, and just now ordered New In Town. You both have a stand-out quality that really appealed to me. Every time I hear the bit about the homeless guy I die laughing!

I stopped approaching entertainers to compliment them (not that I’ve done that a lot) because the last few times I felt like they looked at me like I had Down’s Syndrome (I don’t), which is kinda how I treat someone who talks to me about Jesus. Loved your Johnny Carson dream!

  13. sam says:

Pete Holmes is tuned into a fountain of mirth at the center of the universe and through him we are all given sips of the euphoric liquid.

  14. jimjim says:

what a great piece of podcast this was! thank you john and and thank you pete. come to baltimore!

  15. Spencer says:

I totally did that ride it out thing with you Pete when you came here to Salt Lake City. I can’t even remember what I said, I just wanted to hug you. I hope it wasn’t too awkward for you, because it was just awkward enough for me.

  16. Joshua says:

Also, the guy in the flashback in “Memento” was Stephen Tobolowsky I think.

  17. Joshua says:

Haven’t listened yet. I’m just so excited for my two favorite stand-ups on the same podcast! Mulaney’s latest album is the best comedy album I’ve listened to in years.

  18. Pete Holmes says:

THANKS EVERYONE! I was so excited about this ep, and I’m glad y’all like it!!!

And I WILL keep laughing, it’s kind of not optional (at all).

  19. farleyk says:

Pete, keep laughing, and I’ve gotta tell you, the (fabricated?) fates that befall Katie on a surprisingly regular basis are great. Crispy, indeed.

  20. Patod says:

Super duper stoked about this ep. John Mulaney is one of the best comedians out there and YMIY never disappoints. Thanks for being the best, Pete.

  21. Travesty says:

*log onto nerdist to see if any new podcats have dropped.

JOHN MULANEY! I loved Riki’s interview with him, and since Pete brings him up ALL the time, I’ve been waiting so long for this. Now I must rush home to listen. Happy day! 🙂

  22. Matt Blagg says:

Everything pete says is hilarious. Keep laughing every two seconds pete! Glad you got malaney on the show finally. I’ve been saying you should get him on since this first started.

  23. Irene says:

Loved how cringy John felt about things he had previously said to Pete in their “safe place”. Could totally relate, made me think he is – One of us. One of us.

Was looking forward to John Mulaney on the show – did not disappoint. Great ep!

  24. chris says:

Half-way through one of my favorite episodes.

I really like what you said about making it to a certain point in your career where you can step back and think how far you come (specifically, you story about middling at the stress factory and now headlining there).

I play in a band that does OK now and I love having those moments. Like how I was listening to and obsessing over a band ten years ago and now my band gets to play with them and I’m good friends with them. It’s great to be able to have those moments and share them with people you know appreciate the same way you do.

  25. Mr.Larker says:

may i just say the ridiculous length of these last few casts are MUCH appreciated.

Thanks Pete. . . or Katie, or whomever.

  26. Overlord says:

Pete, what are you the most delightful??

Don’t mind Scott. He keeps ir soggy.

  27. Sandi says:

pete, pete, petey, you’re the best! I can’t wait for your show. Keep laughing every two seconds, it brightens up my dull, boring work day. great episode!

  28. Nathan says:

Scott, that’s sort of what Pete does every single episode constantly. I’m thinking you’re listening to the wrong podcast, champ.

  29. Chuck says:

It’s only been a few of months since I discovered this podcast, I’ve listened to the lot and lately seeing a new episode become available has become a highlight in my day.

My big hope is that The Midnight Show (is that what he said it was called?) will be available as a podcast too.

  30. Jill says:

Way to keep it crispy, Pete!

  31. Jeremy says:

Pete, Keep laughing like a ninny every two seconds. Everything IS fucking hilarious!!!

  32. Scott says:

Jesus, stop laughing like a ninny every two seconds. EVERYTHING is not FUCKING HILARIOUS!!!

  33. Terry R says:

This is my favorite podcast, I hope Pete’s TV show is huge!!!!!
