I’m really glad that Al mentioned Dan Crawford. I knew Dan for the last two years of his life and he was such a lovely person. So funny, too. Weird, innovative, loved comedy in such a pure way. I still think about him all the time.
great show, I’m loyal.
i did find his point about not being as great, and being selfish and not being a man if one has no children annoying; not personally but as a logical premise.
and that parable wasn’t the same analogy to kids because you don’t need kids and a spouse to have a full life, or be a great and legitimate man or woman.
I get that ppl get stronger emotional perspectives with kids but there’s a difference between saying one is likely to change and saying you aren’t legitimate if you have no children (in this ppl filled world).
there was a similar thing with saying ppl with children are funnier than without. there are some who are and some who aren’t.
I think it is a bad move to make such broad judgments or rules when there is so many times where the rule is wrong.
sorry I love the show but I get ranty once a week.
Yeah, Al kind of sounded like a real asshole there.
I am not sure if these comments are read by Pete Holmes but because the “what would you do” senerio with the dude feeling up women in the bar has been brought up several times I wanted to take a chance saying my issue with this hypothetical. Which, simply put, is why aren’t any of the females in this senerio kicking this guy in the balls? The “dude” is trying to pick a fight with other guys by using the women, and the senerio does the same thing. It assumes the women have no part or action, the set up discludes them and the “solution” discludes them. I realize it was based on an situation but I thought I could add my two cents anyways.
I could swear al madrigal’s been on this show before. And Al discussed a lot of the same stuff, like how the family business was firing ppl. But nobody ever mentions the other interview! I could swear this other interview happened… Maybe im losing my mind!
he talked about a lot of that stuff on Maron’s podcast
I agree, I’ve heard him talk about firing people before too. Maybe on the Daily Show podcast. Or possibly on The Indoor Kids podcast. I’m not totally sure.
“I like it when my contractors have iPhones” that might be the silliest thing Pete has ever said.
What was the mattress?
I find him sexy
So great. Thanks Pete!
How insane is it that Als grandfather came to left Mexico under the EXACT SAME circumstances that my Great Grandfather left Mexico!
At the 1 hour and 30 minute mark, Pete says 1:30. The universe is fun sometimes.
Oh wow, this guy! I’ve been watching About a Boy for like a year-ish now and always thought his character was pretty funny. He’s so different than I thought he’d be in real life, and knowing what show he’s on makes his fourth banana joke even funnier.
Great podcast, made me laugh out loud like a dozen times! Might be a new fan of his.
Check out his stand up special. It was GREAT. Comedy Central did it, it must be avail somewhere
Al is SERIOUSLY hilarious. His special was top 4 of last year.
His answer to the hypothetical “what would you do” topic about Pete’s actual experience in Melbourne made me laugh so happily. His matter-of-fact delivery made me crack up and smile at the hypothetical justice. Great ep!
First 2 minutes: Can’t freakin WAIT for Pat Walsh to return! 🙂
