Jonah ray is much cooler than William Ray Norwood Jr, AKA Ray J. FUCK THAT GUY.

  2. Nate says:

I think the first time that Tim Burton and Johnny Depp work together first was actually on Edward Scissorhands.

  3. Kelly says:

Great episode, I really appreciated Jonah speak to the defining your own success. And thanks to Eric for mentioning the name of the documentary, I forgot.

  4. Eric says:

Beauty is Emabarrassing is an awesome documentary, I highly recommend it. Also, great episode!

  5. Mike says:

Love ya, Petey! In regards the show being called misongynistic and racist. Couldn’t be further from the truth! You keep doin what you do! Its your show and its great!

  6. Kim says:

This comment might be more for the website crew than Pete himself, but I really enjoy an episode more if the podcast blurb describes the comedian. If, for instance, I know of the comic, it doesn’t matter. (EX: Mike Birbiglia and Jonah Ray.) If I have never heard of them and all the blurb says is, “So-and-so makes it weird!” chances are I will not listen to the episode. Hearing about highlights of the show is a good way to lure listeners in.

And that’s some feedback from a longtime listener. Thanks so much for all you do!

  7. Zoe says:

I wish there was a way for listeners to directly contact Pete, but I’ll have to settle for this and hope he sees it one day.

It was such a breath of fresh air to hear Jonah Ray acknowledge his privilege as a white male comedian, and I was so frustrated to hear Pete just strike down his concerns about speaking over women and POC with the extremely ignorant comment that he shouldn’t worry about it because he’s just a person.

Yes, individually we are all just human beings, but our identities allow us different experiences in society, and being lucky enough to be born a person who doesn’t experience the same institutional and individual oppressions that other people should come with the responsibility of knowing that your voice silences others.

I’m a longtime listener, but the podcast seems to be increasingly misogynistic and racist because of Pete’s ignorance (and maybe not wanting to call out guests)

Pete you have listeners that are women, queer, trans*, people of color, disabled, etc. Please think about what that means.

  8. Derpasaur says:

That was the most awkward conversation I’ve ever heard.

  9. Fritz says:

Pete, you may not be big in Norway yet, but all my friends in Copenhagen love you!

  10. A great conversation. Have always wondered what was a healthy amount of ambition, or more specifically “lack of”. I’m a big believer in enjoying the process first and foremost.
The conversation got a little too real which was confronting. I always find it funny that this anxiety exists in people whose career paths others would kill for. Illuminating.
    Awesome ep.

  11. Mr_Smartypants says:

Most ironic moment of the show:

Jonah: No one ever got laughs by making compliments.

    Pete: Very well put!

    Both: (laughing)

  12. Miranda says:

Hey Pete! I love this show! I just want to say — please could you have Chris Hardwick on your show? Maybe you have already sat down with him. Regardless, please do it again! 🙂

  13. Mark says:

What an awesome episode! A new favourite for me. I really relate to Jonah in terms of how he acts in social situations (and the feeling of shame after you goof around), and loved the discussion on amibition vs being comfortable where you are. Very insightful! I try to think that you can have it both ways in some respects. You can be relaxed and comfortable with yourself as well as pushing others, being a little ruthless and taking control of things despite a laid back and ‘nerdy’ personality. Thanks guys!

  14. Haley says:

    Damn, no french onion?

  15. Drachenfells says:

Great episode. Really interesting to see how you both see each other and how much of that is true.

  16. Alec says:

This was a nice episode. Jonah didn’t lay down some crazy emotional bombs, but it still felt like a really open discussion from both of him and Pete.

  17. mikachu says:

Another amazing episode! I have so much more respect for Jonah after listening to him here; it’s refreshing to hear someone value relationships, quality time, and being present over money, stress, and always trying to climb the ladder. 🙂

  18. melf melfman says:

This is magic. They need to do an epic roundtable podcast with sardonic versus silly. Maron, j ray, jezelnik vs pete, tj miller, burt kreicher and steven brody stevens. Maybe kroll to even out the sardonic side. Also maybe jeff garlin because it gets extra funny with pete and tj. And a pony :-).

  19. matt says:

Great episode, randomly really relevant in my life right now with all the ambition talk.

Sidenote: Pete I saw you last night at the troubadour and you seemed markedly angrier or more stressed or tired or something. A lot of the material i had heard from your show but it was so interesting and fresh to see last night because everything just seemed more intense. The screams were louder and the frustration more palpable. I dunno if you’re just wiped out from the talk show or just had a different energy, but it was by far one of my favorite sets of yours even if it was less goofy and playful.

  20. One word and one word only: FINALLY!!! 😀
