  1. Rob says:

Went back to listen to this at work. “Are you a 4 year old?” after Pete described his interpretation of a lap-band surgery, was in Pete’s words “laser.”

  2. boing says:

lol @ Mark Wahlberg and Seth MAcFarlane being exampels at nice people

  3. Victor says:

@peteholmes: Could you please just laugh when a joke is funny and not before, between & after every sentence?!!! You might as well should have sucked his Dick from the beginning, instead of spending 3 hours kissing his ass!

  4. Wendy says:

Love this episode. I already know & love Joel McHale from many things but this episode endeared him to me so much. His love of The Biggest Loser & Bob the trainer, plus talking about his wife, it was sooo sweet. I guess because he is usually snarky in every show/movie/appearance I’ve seen him on, I assumed he was that way all the time. I think it’s awesome and surprising to hear that he watches such an uplifting, positive show like TBL. It’s nice to see that he isn’t the actual “personality” that he portrays so often. Also it is always heartwarming to hear another happily married, non-romantically jaded guest (like Jim Gaffigan, Michael Ian Black, Adam Pally, Kumail & Emily, etc. etc.) on this show to offset some of the more depressing episodes (Ari Shaffir’s episode for example still haunts me).

P.S. I was stuck in my car trying to get out of the parking garage across the street from the Barclay Center in Brooklyn for 75% of this episode and it definitely helped distract me from stressing out too much, so thank you!

  5. laura says:

    “I’m talking about Witch Mountain.”

Surprised that an episode with someone so known could be so wonderful -I had to turn my laughter into a work cough.
    Guest Ganga Crispy!

  6. jimjim says:

a top notch episode. i laughed a lot.
    thanks Joel and Pete!

also Joels analogy about infidelity was very good. It takes one little match to burn down an entire forest. Wise words to remember. Don’t learn this the hard way! Listen to your friend Joel McHale. He’s a cool dude.

  7. Terry says:

It was a little hard to listen to this one. Felt like the entire time Pete was restraining his laughter. I prefer a more carefree Pete Holmes. Other than that, fun show. Joel Mchale was a great guest.

  8. Scott says:

I try and try to enjoy this podcast, REALLY I do.

I would probably enjoy it much more if Pete would just let the guest answer a frikkin question. Just one question.

I noticed that Joel stopped talking when he asked Pete a question, and listened to Pete’s answer.

Also, laughing maniacally at something that’s marginally funny does not make it funnier.

    That is all.

  9. Mark says:

Weird – Pet’s A to C on nerdmilf – nerdy girls are thicker milkshakes? Not where my mind goes.

  10. Ian says:

This may have been my favorite ep of all time, and I’ve heard them all.

  11. Boredonpurpose says:

I so whish you had talked more about Community. Oh well. Still a good podcast. Please keep it up!

  12. Pete Holmes says:

@anon youmadeitweird dot com if you’re feeling nasty! #donate

  13. JetpackBlues says:

“I wonder who came up with that phrase?”
    “Left of Center?”

    Suzanne Vega. 😛

  14. Nelson P says:

OH MY GOD I laughed so hard at the starbucks shit story that I woke up my mom from across the hall.
I sauceball the shit in her face and ask her if she could put it in the mens room.
FUCKING PERFECT response. also a very good episode overall. love community.

  15. anon says:

is there a way to donate?

  16. kim says:

This is easily my favorite Joel McHale interview ever. He’s a wee bit snarkier here than the short, superficial interviews that television allows for. Refreshing!

I agree with Joel’s attitude about health and diet, and he’s correct about the water. We are drinking chlorine in our water, but it’s also not poisoned with fecal matter, which will kill you much faster than most chemical impurities.

  17. laurabandypants says:

“Well, they call it the 7-year itch, don’t they. ” I love it when Pete is being British! Great interview — snappy rapport.

  18. Spencer says:

A lot of people boycott Nestle for their horribly exploitative labor and trade practices. Maybe that is what you’re talking about Pete.

  19. farleyk says:

My favorite moment of this was when Joel was asked how he was with confrontation. That wasn’t just gold, it was gold with a sweet platinum center.

  20. Yeah! Great guest! Pete was bringing his A game with those religious questions at the end! Damn!

  21. Rachel says:

Hi Pete, I’m a Lutheran and I actually have an answer to your how-conservative-are-Lutherans question!

There are different synods in the Lutheran faith, some more progressive than others. The three that I know off-hand are the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (which is fairly progressive and allows women to lead worship), then Lutheran Church Missouri Synod is pretty conservative, and the Wisconsin Synod is extremely conservative from what I understand.

  22. Pete Holmes says:

@alex I agree! And it DID come up when he mentioned his brother. Shit! Thanks for putting it thoughtfully and kindly, I think you’re right!

  23. Alex says:

It bothers me that religion is shoehorned into the last few minutes of the podcast now. In the earlier episodes it used to come up whenever it came up, or Pete may have even brought it up when it felt right, but now it’s this Final Segment, and I don’t really understand why.

I mean yes, if it somehow doesn’t ever come up naturally then maybe you bring it up at the end, but the same could be said for sex, comedy, depression, and whatever other topics are normally touched on. I feel like this one topic of discussion is arbitrarily being held back because it has to come up at the end.

  24. Daniel says:

This is a very interesting 5 minutes on faith and religion. Bring Joel back for a second session just to flesh it out.

  25. Nerdrage Mustache says:

I thought I was the only one who imagined being a sniper just for the idea of being cozy. It’s been made weird.

  26. Pete Holmes says:

    @jake me too! Blast!!

  27. CXRengel says:

Congrats on the get! I’m going to “CommuniCon” in February.

  28. Jake says:

I wish you had gotten to the religious talk earlier. It’s always interesting to hear different belief systems.

  29. Taylor says:

This is my first time listening… Are there always a ton of Jesus questions? Way to field em, Joe!

  30. Ed says:

Great Episode. Laughed out loud in the office when they talked about eating a million animals in an hour and Joel asked about if that included bugs during a bike ride.

  31. Nick says:

The same Joel McHale from Wipeout? Nice! Downloading now.

  32. jgarfink says:

I really want to go to Joel McHale’s heaven.

  33. jsl says:

Hilarious episode. Definitely wouldn’t mind hearing Joel back on here someday. Also, the best “keep it crispy” yet

  34. Scott says:

    The carbonated gatorade was All-Sport.

I always wanted it as a kid, but now the thought of carbonated sports drink sounds awful….

  35. pbnews says:

I listen to so many podcasts that YMIW is one I only listen to when I really like the guest. I don’t think I’ve missed an episode in months.

    Nice job Pete! Great ep!

  36. Justin says:

First time Pete said “Hey, homo!” I thought Rodney Dangerfield was in the room.

  37. LaurenR says:

Pete Holmes, you are hilariously adorable. Thanks for that.

  38. Melissa says:

I was ecstatic when I woke up this morning and went to download the episode, JOEL MCHALE! loved every minute of this episode, huge huge Community fan!

  39. Kevin says:

I had no idea McHale was in Reservoir Dogs.

    Mr. Off-White, no doubt.
