You Can Rent a Beautiful Hobbit Hole-Inspired Home in Thailand

Peter Jackon’s time in J.R.R. Tolkien’s world is coming to a close. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies hits theaters this week and ends the Middle-earth saga. For now. If you’re not ready to let go of the world and can’t quite commit to a trip to New Zealand, how about renting a home inspired by Bag End? We recently saw a listing for a cozy hobbit-like cottage in Los Angeles, but Airbnb has a more authentic option available: an aboveground hobbit hole in Thailand.

The exterior of one of the rooms – pictured above – has a round green door just like the home of Bilbo Baggins. It’s surrounded by three other doors and hobbit holes so the place has the full Shire look. The roofs are all covered in dirt and grass, and the rental property sits on a mini hill. It looks like a dream come true, and I want to book it immediately. See the inside:

Each of the four rooms has a single bedroom and a single bathroom. This little piece of Middle-earth is situated two hours from Bangkok in Sikhio. It comes with all the creature comforts including wifi and air conditioning as well as a collection of hobbit costumes for photo ops. Because of course. The rental costs $84 per night for a single guest.

Not interested in traveling to Thailand? Airbnb has a few other Middle-earth inspired options such as this earthen hut in California and this treehouse in England.
