Remember that time Pokemon was life and you couldn’t turn a corner without bumping into nineteen Pikachus and a Meowth? Well get ready for the first serious contender to the collectible monster game-and-anime-and-toys throne: Yo-Kai Watch!
The ubiquitous (in Japan) series has garnered four Nintendo 3DS games, manga, two movies, an anime, and a staggering amount of merchandising thanks to it’s addictive Yo-Kai (think ghosts)-catching mechanics. Made by Level-5, the team that brought you Professor Layton, the game’s focus on exploration and mini-games instead of turn-based combat has garnered great reviews and a crazy-rabid fan-base. Will you buy in when the first 3DS game and anime finally hit North American shores on November 6?
Join Jessica Chobot as she tells you everything you need to know about Yo-Kai Watch, as well as what makes it unique from Pokemon, on today’s Nerdist News! Thanks for watching today’s show, don’t miss the latest episode of our Skulls of the Shogun animated series, and let us know in the comments below if you’re ready to be Team Pokemon or Team Yo-Kai!
