Xbox One Finally Has a Release Date: November 22, 2013

Mark your calendars, folks, and stock up on caffeinated beverages. The Xbox One is officially coming out on November 22, 2013, just in time for you to explain what the hell a Kinect is to Aunt Doris at Thanksgiving dinner. This announcement comes hot on the heels of Sony’s Gamescom reveal that the PS4 will be hitting store shelves on November 15th in the US and on November 29th in Europe, so the Xbox One will both be beaten by and beat Sony to the punch by a full week depending on where you live. The console will be available in Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, the U.K., and the U.S. day and date, and will release in other regions in 2014.

With launch titles including Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4, and many more, the console will retail for $499 in North America, £429 in the U.K. and in Europe for €499. The console will be delayed in eight European countries, though, as Microsoft director of marketing Albert Penello explained last month, in order to implement voice support on the dashboard for a variety of additional languages. Fortunately, though, crouching repeatedly on your opponent’s lifeless body is an internationally recognized symbol that transcends language barriers.

Where do you come down on the PS4 vs. Xbox One debate? Will you be picking up a console on Day 1? Let us know why in the comments below or hit me up on Twitter.

Had a mini panic attack when I saw Nov 29th for PS4, had to sprint to google to make sure PS4 was still arriving the 15th in NA.

The ps4 comes out in the states on November 15 and Europe on November 29. You should probably clear that up.

    Video games!

The $100 price tag difference might just be enough to tip the scales. Especially for someone not particularly interested in the kinect tossed in the package by default.

Plus, that PS4 lineup is looking pretty sexy-timesvilletopia. I’ve always been an Xbox man, but it just might be time to switch it up a little.

None of this really matters though, since Dark Souls 2 will be keeping me busy on current gen for the next year at least.
