Jubilee Stars in a Hilariously ’80s Commercial for Xavier’s School

20th Century Fox’s marketing team has been on a role lately, what with their hilarious Deadpool ads and ’80s era X-Men: Apocalypse promotions which include Atari 2600 inspired video games, album cover parodies, and an amusing spoof of Leonard Nimoy’s In Search of… TV series. And now today, one of the newest members of the X-Men got in on the fun!

Fox has released a new promo video featuring Lana Condor‘s Jubilee as she stars in an ad for Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. The intentionally horrible production values—filmed as if it were made in 1983—and bad acting from Jubilee’s fellow students is, admittedly, pretty funny. We’re not sure if the X-Men are overtly announcing that the school is a haven for mutants in the movie, but the ad does its best to make it seem like a safe place. (And you’ll hear at least one more familiar voice at the end!)

This is the best glimpse we’ve had to date of Jubilee, and she’s the only member of the X-Men to actually appear in the video. James McAvoy‘s Charles Xavier is briefly seen in photos taken when he still had hair, and there is something hilariously awesome about seeing the old computers lined up as evidence of the school’s state-of-the-art facilities.

We’re not sure if the other students in this ad are meant to represent any of the characters from Marvel’s comic book universe. However, one of the students displays the ability to make a flower decay at his touch, which is the power that Wither/Kevin Ford had in the second New Mutants ongoing series.

X-Men: Apocalypse will be out in theaters on May 27, but we hope to see more of Fox’s promo videos before then!
