WWE Star John Cena First Celebrity to Grant 500 Wishes for Make-A-Wish

For the last ten years, the face of the WWE has been John Cena (yep, that’s Steven from Trainwreck). He is a 15-time World Champion and is the current United States Champion. If you’re a wrestling fan, you know that Cena is always greeted by a mixed reaction when he enters an arena. Half the crowd loves him, the other half despises him. That’s part of what has made him the wrestling industry’s top star. Even if half the crowd is booing him, everyone is talking about him.

Outside of the squared circle is a different story. John Cena gets nothing but respect for everyone he comes in contact with, and it is much deserved.

This week on the Today Show, Cena surprised longtime Cena fan and Make-a-Wish recipient Rocco Lanzer on the set. Rocco was diagnosed with leukemia earlier this year, and was too sick to interact with John on his first attempt to visit. John got to spend a few minutes talking with Rocco and gave him all of his latest gear. Rocco will need it, as John also presented him tickets to this coming Monday’s episode of RAW, which will be taking place in Brooklyn, NY.

You can check out the video of Rocco’s surprise down below:

Not only will this be a dream come true for Rocco, but it will signify a milestone for Cena as well. This will be the 500th wish he has granted for the Make-a-Wish foundation. John is the first celebrity in the history of the organization to do so. He doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon either. “I’ll continue to be involved with Make-A-Wish as long as they’ll have me,” he said in a recent interview.

If you’re not a fan of Cena the wrestler, it’s pretty hard to not like Cena the person.

You can see John grant his 500th wish on Monday Night Raw August 24, and he will be in the co-main event of SummerSlam, this Sunday on the WWE Network.

So what do you think? Should he try to grant 500 more? Let me know on Twitter or in the comments below.
