Wow Your Valentine With a Bouquet of Bacon Roses

This is no ordinary Valentine’s Day; this is the one where you’re going to be thoughtful and impressive with your gift giving. Oh wait, Valentine’s Day is only a few hours away. Hmm. You’re going to need help, and flowers and candy aren’t going to cut it this year. You need to get creative, think outside of the box. Think… meaty.

Jo Stougaard of @MyLastBite took carb-free to the next level by making up a batch of bacon roses. Twisty, savory, and delicious, the scent of these mouth-watering treats rivals the fragrance of any fresh bouquet.

Prep work is minimal so if you’re short on time, don’t worry — you can have this gift ready to go within the hour. Rolling the bacon into little buds and cooking until crispy gives them their unique floral shape. Pop them on the end of a skewer and they look like exquisite little bundles of love.

One rasher of bacon makes an awful lot of roses so it’s best to plan ahead. Maybe some bacon rose omelets for breakfast or a bacon rose BLT for your sweetheart’s lunch. However  you present them, just like real flowers these certainly won’t last long. Bacon: it’s the Valentine’s Day gift that keeps on giving.
