Wolverine’s LOGAN Shares New Photos and a Score Sample, and More Movie News

We hope you’ve all gotten off to honor the great American tradition of Martin Luther King Day. But if you are working today, well, we’ll do our best to brighten it up with today’s Movie Morsels. We’ve got the latest photos from Hugh Jackman’s final Wolverine film Logan, a trailer for Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams‘ new movie, and much more to make your Monday just a little merrier…

Logan

You know a director cares about his craft when he’s as serious about still pictures as he is about moving ones, and director James Mangold appears very serious about still pictures, particularly those he’s taken of the stars of his upcoming Logan: Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, and Dafne Keen. The latter looks all but certain to win our hearts as Logan’s latest (and last?) sidekick and possible successor, Laura Kinney, a.k.a. the mutant X-23…

Mangold has also kindly provided us with a sample of Marco Beltrami’s score for the film. Hopefully it will be every bit as moody and evocative as the orchestrations we hear in the following video — shot from the editing room during a recording session!

iBoy

Hey, speaking of Marvel’s mutants and their upcoming movie appearances, what with the end of TV’s Game of Thrones finally in sight, many of its cast members have been working hard to establish their film careers in order to hit the ground running when production wraps on the HBO series. Sophia Turner starred in last summer’s X-Men: Apocalypse, and many of us are hoping that Maisie Williams will follow suit by joining the cast of the spinoff team film New Mutants (as, God willing, everyone’s favorite Scottish werewolf Wolfsbane). Though we’ve still no confirmation on Williams’ casting, we do have the trailer for her next film project, the Netflix film iBoy. It features a very different kind of teen superhero — one whose superpowers come from having pieces of a smart phone stuck in his head…

The Founder

I haven’t had a chance to check out the new biopic about McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc just yet, but I’ve heard from a number of people that no matter what one thinks of the overall film, Michael Keaton’s performance in the title role is impeccable. Here’s a behind-the scenes featurette on The Founder, which features its all-star cast gushing over their love of Keaton’s work, and naming their favorite films in which he’s starred…

The Wizard of Lies

Finally today, we have a little something from yet another biopic, this one about the infamous Bernie Madoff, who orchestrated the biggest case of financial fraud in American history. Robert De Niro sinks his legendary acting chops into the role of the disgraced NASDAQ chief, even sporting his trademark godawful haircut. Check out the first trailer for HBO’s The Wizard of Lies
