Witness The Glory of 8-Bit MAD MAX: FURY ROAD!

After a nearly 30 year absence from movie theaters, Mad Max: Fury Road reinvigorated the long dormant franchise. Thanks to impeccable direction from George Miller, amazing stunt work, and great performances from the cast, Fury Road has been one of the rare critically acclaimed action movies.

Tom Hardy was a fine choice to be the new Max, but it was Charlize Theron’s Imperator Furiosa that really captured imaginations. And it didn’t hurt that Immortan Joe was a deliciously memorable villain.

Fury Road is out on Blu-ray and DVD, but now it’s time to appreciate Mad Max as it was always meant to be: an 8-bit video game! CineFix’s 8-Bit Cinema has given Mad Max: Fury Road the video game treatment with “a little 16-bit” boost, and the result is a charmingly entertaining 3 minute recap of several of the film’s high points.

As part of the joke, the 8-bit Max Max: Fury Road is essentially one long action sequence, and Max even gets upstaged by Furiosa in the final boss battle. It is by no means a comprehensive recap of the movie. But it is very fun to see the small touches, including the fate of the Bullet Farmer.

Miller has revealed that he wants to make at least two more Mad Max movies, but he has also indicated that Furiosa might only make a cameo appearance…or she may not even appear at all. And as much as we love Mad Max, we want Furiosa back for more than just a token appearance, damn it!
