Wilson Fisk Rebuilds His Empire in KINGPIN #1 (Preview)

One of the most intriguing things about the Daredevil original series on Netflix was the way it set up Wilson Fisk as the hero of his own story, and the villain of everyone else’s. Now it’s time for Fisk’s comic book counterpart to step into the spotlight for the very first Kingpin ongoing series. And while Fisk seems willing to leave his life of crime behind, it’s just not going to be possible.

Writer Matthew Rosenberg and artist Ben Torres will be the creative team of Kingpin, which is a part of the newly expanded Daredevil line that includes comics for both Elektra and Bullseye. As for Fisk, he’s reached a point where he’s ready to write a new chapter in his life as a truly legitimate businessman. The problem is that everyone knows that he was the Kingpin of crime. Of course, that’s more of a PR problem for Fisk, and he has plans to use a disgraced journalist to change the way that the public views him.

Marvel has passed along some of Torres’ pages from Kingpin #1, which feature Fisk meeting with the journalist shortly after a sparring match.

You can find the rest of the preview pages in the gallery below, including an apparent guest appearance by Daredevil’s alter ego, Matt Murdock. The gallery also has covers by Jeff Dekal, Ben Torres, Skottie Young, Marco Checchetto, Julian Totino Tedesco, and John Tyler Christopher. But we’re particularly taken by this cover from legendary artist, Bill Sienkiewicz; which uniquely illustrates the blood on Fisk’s clothing and face. He can’t escape his past, and it’s only a matter of time before Fisk gives in to his true nature once again.
