Will Smith Returns to Music and Throws a ‘Fiesta’

Will Smith got into the recording studio again and the results are worth dancing about.

It’s been a long time since Will Smith decided to get “jiggy wit it,” over a decade, but the movie star has finally made a return, brief though it may be, to his musical roots by joining up for a remix of the Colombian band Bomba Estereo’s song, “Fiesta”.

Smith contributed vocals in both English and Spanish for the Latin Grammy-nominated song, which is aptly named because it would definitely fit in at any fiesta. I dare you not to start swiveling at your desk when you listen to it.

“Big Will” was apparently the one that reached out to the band. Founding member Simón Mejía said, “This opportunity to work with Will was beyond anything we have dreamed of … It’s just magic.”

It’s been a long time since Will Smith was a consistent presence in the music world (2005’s Lost and Found was his las effort), but for a time he was producing both hit movies and hit songs. With this newest addition to his catalogue, we’d be remiss not to look back at some of his biggest hits.

As much as I genuinely like “Fiesta”, everyone knows that Will Smith’s greatest song will never be topped. “Miami” is one of the most iconic anthems of the 20th century.

So what do you think of “Fiesta”? How does it compare to your favorite Will Smith song? Let’s get writing wit it in the comments below and come up with a killer playlist for our next fiesta.
