Where Should Vampires Bite Humans, Anatomically Speaking?

In movies and TV shows, getting bit by a vampire is pretty much game-over. They bite, you die, you turn. But the human body’s blood plumbing is a bit more complicated when you’re biting. Where is the best place to bite someone if you just want a snack? Or if you want all one and a half gallons of the crimson liquid?

In my latest Because Science, I’m addressing vampires directly with the anatomy lessons they need to know in order to bite people properly. The jugular is still a viable target, but only if you want your victim to live. If you’re going in for the kill, go for the carotid, because anatomy.
