What’s Free This Month: DRIVECLUB, BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM, BATTLEFIELD: BAD COMPANY 2, DARKSIDERS II

It may be the month of ghosts and ghouls, but October’s game freebies aren’t cheap tricks. Both Sony and Microsoft are delivering games that have not been made available before on their respective platforms, which basically sums up to awesome treats for us!

This month, PlayStation Plus members will get their hands on the action-packed journey title Dust: An Elysian Tail for the PlayStation 4. PS4 Plus members also get the platformer Spelunky, which also happens to be a cross-buy, so you enjoy the game on the PS3 and Vita as well! As an added bonus, DriveClub PlayStation Plus Edition will also be made available for the PS4. You’ll have access to both online and offline play of 11 tracks and ten cars for your garage. You can upgrade to the full version for only $49.99.

Batman: Arkham Asylum and Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara both come free to the PlayStation 3 for PS Plus members. To wrap up the rest of Sony’s freebies, the intense arcade game Pix the Cat arrives for PS4 and Vita and the role-playing game filled with exploration, Rainbow Moon, is free for the PS3 and Vita.

Xbox One Gold members will score Chariot, the newest ID@Xbox game from Canadian developers Frima. Think of it as a fairy tale platformer. Xbox 360 Gold members can get their fill of explosive kills by nabbing Battlefield: Bad Company 2 from now until the 15th. From the 16th on, Xbox 360 Gold members can then get their hands on the action role-playing hack and slash game, Darksiders II.

Though I’m a bit bummed we didn’t get many horror titles in the mix, free games are still awesome. Are these titles enough for you to upgrade to PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold memberships if you haven’t already? Let us know in the comments below!
