WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS Spin-Off Gets a Dog of a Title

What We Do in the Shadows was one of the funniest comedies of 2015. The mockumentary, written, directed by, and starring Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi (Flight of the Conchords) about a group of vampires living together and trying to survive in New Zealand, had critics raving. Now fans will be able to re-enter this world as a second movie is on the way.

In an interview with Crave during the Sundance Film Festival, Waititi said “Jemaine and I are trying to write a werewolves spin-off. It’s going to be called We’re Wolves, like ‘We are wolves.’ We’re Wolves.” This is a definite change from the original title, What We Do in The Moonlight. While the first title worked fine, keeping in line with the first film, this new title is just silly enough to work.

There’s no word on when the movie will go into production since Waititi will have his hands full for the next few months as filming gets underway for Thor: Ragnarok, due out in 2017. Waititi was announced to helm the third Thunder God movie this past October. Along with the recent announcement of Ryan Coogler on Black Panther, Marvel is showing they are ready to be mighty diverse when it comes to their next phase of movies.

So what do you think? Are you a fan of the new title, or should they have kept with the same template? What other “creatures of the night” would you like to see them tackle next? Let me know on Twitter or sound off in the comments below.
