What to Do While You’re at New York Comic Con

It seems like only yesterday we were up to our eyebrows in Comic-Con San Diego and now it’s already mid-October and it’s time for New York Comic Con. It’s four days of geek-centric programming in the City That Doesn’t Sleep beginning Thursday, October 10th and going through Sunday, October 13th, at the Javits Convention Center (655 W 34th St.). What kind of things are there to do? The answer to that question: Lots.

On THURSDAY, you’ll find all sorts of great panels, including:

Rewriting the Classics: Modern Sci-Fi in Comics, featuring the good people at Dark Horse, from 3:15-4:15pm in room 1A10.

-World Premiere of the documentary Necessary Evil: Super Villains of DC Comics, from 5:00-6:30pm in room 1A06.

Kotobukiya’s Fall Preview, from 5:30-6:30 in room 1A15.

Thursday Night Kickoff with Comedy Mutant, a comedy program featuring Brian Posehn, Janeane Garofalo, Myq Kaplan, Mike Drucker and more, from 8-10pm in Main Stage 1-D

FRIDAY is even more packed with great things, which we couldn’t possibly fit all right here, but some good ones are:

-The fellas who make up AMC’s Comic Book Men (aka Kevin Smith, Bryan Johnson, Walt Flanagan, Michael Zapcic, and Ming Chen) yuck it up on Main Stage 1-D from 11:00am to Noon.

-Felicia Day talks Geek & Sundry in room 1A22 from 12:15-1:15pm.

-If you’re interested in Cosplay but don’t know squat about clothes-making (that’s what it’s called, right?) you’ll want to check out the panel I Have No Sewing Machine but I Must Cosplay from 1:45-2:45 in room 1A03.

-Celebrate a decade of zombies with The Walking Dead 10th Anniversary Panel featuring Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard from 2:45-3:45pm on the Empire Stage 1-E.

-Finish off your night with more laughter with CollegeHumor Live!, starring our own Kumail Nanjiani from 7:45-8:45pm in room 1A22.

-Or go see a screening of Evangelion 3.0: You Can (Not) Redo with the English voice cast at 8:00pm on Main Stage 1-D.

The packed-ness of things only embiggens on SATURDAY:

-Celebrate 50 Years of Doctor Who from 11:15am-12:15pm in room 1A23.

-Three of the Mythbusters (Kari Byron, Grant Imahara, and Tory Belleci) help destroy some gourds, courtesy of Science Channel’s Punkin Chunkin, from 12:15-1:15pm in room 1A22.

-Fans of The Thrilling Adventure Hour podcast and stage show will want to be in room 1A14 from 2:45-3:45pm. Trust us.

-Join You Made It Weird host Pete Holmes for a panel all about TBS’ The Pete Holmes Show from 4:15-5:15pm in room 1A22.

-He’s been Captain Jack Harkness, he’s been the Dark Archer, and now he’s yours from 6:30-7:30pm – it’s a Q&A with John Barrowman in the Empire Stage 1-E.

-Get a special preview and Q&A with voice actor extraordinaire John DiMaggio as he talks about his new documentary, I Know That Voice.

And it all wraps up on SUNDAY with a heaping helping of goodness to take you home:

-Gear up for adventure with Timestalks: Adventure Time featuring cast and crew of the hit Cartoon Network series, featuring Pendleton Ward, John DiMaggio, and more from 11:00am-Noon on the Empire Stage 1-E.

-From 12:15-1:15pm on Main Stage 1-D, it’s The League, featuring Jackie Schaffer, Jason Mantzoukas, Jeff Schaffer, Jon Lajoie, Katie Aselton, Mark Duplass, Paul Scheer, and Stephen Rannazzisi.

-You know Fox’s new crazy show Sleepy Hollow? It’s pretty cool, right? Well, there’s a panel about it from 2:45-3:45pm on the Empire Stage 1-E.

-And because we know you want to believe, we believe you’ll want to get yourself to Main Stage 1-D from 4:00pm-5:00pm for an X-Files retrospective Q&A with Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny.

That’s literally just a fraction of the entertainment in store at NYCC and a metric ton of special celebrity guests will be around for panels and autographs like Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Andrew Lincoln, BJ Novak, Frank Darabont, George A. Romero, Lauren Cohan, Patrick Stewart, Seth Green, Colin Baker, hell, even former NFL quarterback (and current WFAN host) Boomer Esiason, and many, many more.

Don’t forget about the myriad opportunities you’ll have to see Zero Charisma (available now on VOD) as John Barrowman and Dan Harmon are hosting screenings for your viewing pleasure!’

And if you STILL aren’t in a comic-booky mood (or want to be even more), then definitely enter to win our NYCC exclusive Square Enix Play Arts KAI Man of Steel Superman black variant statue giveaway. It’s more awesome than lifting a bus full of school children out of a lake. For everything else, and to buy tickets to the four day extravaganza, visit NYCC’s website and stay tuned here for our coverage.
