What Could Have Been: The BIOSHOCK Movie

There once was a Bioshock movie that began development back in 2008. But after Universal cut the movie’s budget by 60 percent, forcing the movie to undergo a change in its director, Ken Levine stepped in and had all production of the movie halted for good.

Whether or not we’ll ever see anyone take another crack at making a Bioshock movie remains to be seen. But at least for now, we do have a neat collection of concept art that was acquired by Film Sketchr. Artist Jim Martin (Hulk) concocted these grim environmental design concepts for the cancelled film. If you look close enough, you may see a figure that slightly resembles Booker Dewitt in a couple of the pictures, which is odd considering these sketches came to fruition well before Bioshock Infinite‘s time. Either way, upon first gazing at the artwork, one can only sit back and aimlessly wonder what could have been.

Damn, the concept of this shows that they did their homework and actually cared about the universe it was set in. This could have been not only the best video game based film, but an incredible movie in its own right. Sucks seeing how it didn’t come to light, but if all we have is the game to stand on, I guess it’s not all bad in the end.

  2. Bob Loblaw Law Blog says:

Am I the only one who thinks this movie would NEED to have Terry Gillium directing?

  3. Jamie says:

Aw man, this movie would have been probably my favorite thing in existence! But let’s say hypothetically they got it going again, WHO would star?

  4. Brandon says:

Words cant express how sad this makes me. I need to see this movie get made. Or at least I need to see the script

  5. Chimpinalls says:

The movie should have been the story of the rise and fall of the city not a retelling of the game’s events. It would really be great to see a large scale epic tale of post WWII Andrew Ryan gathering idealists to come together to build a dream, only to have it all fall apart when ADAM is found and the new society descends into madness.

  6. If this were to be made I may blow a blood vessel….. Maybe through adversity something epic and great may emerge…

this is the most depressing post in the history of depressing posts. These images are perfect. Putting this on the big screen would have made me so happy.
