WESTWORLD’s Opening Theme Gets a Metal Makeover

Westworld has quickly become one of our favorite TV shows, in large part thanks to its cast, the writing, and the unfolding mystery that offers us tantalizing clues on a weekly basis. Game of Thrones composer Ramin Djawadi also provides the music for this series, and that includes the instantly memorable Westworld main theme that plays over the opening credits. Now, that piece of music is getting the metal treatment!

Eric Calderone (a.k.a. Erock) has posted his heavy metal inspired take on Djawadi’s Westworld theme while expanding it to almost twice its length. On his YouTube page, Calderone wrote that Westworld is “of my most recent addictions.” He added that he is “totally into this show for many reasons. Saw a ton of requests for it too so I figured it’d be worth a shot. Also a plus that Ramin Djawadi kills the score in these episodes.”

Unlike the show, this video doesn’t make us question whether it’s taking place in the past or the present, and it doesn’t deal with the more uncomfortable aspects of artificial intelligence that the show explores. It’s just a great piece of music that was even more fun to hear this way.

We’re big fans of Calderone’s metal covers, and we’ve previously showcased several of them including X-Men: The Animated Series, Rick and Morty, Captain America: The First Avenger, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and even the “Moon” theme from the Ducktales video game.
