The WESTWORLD Season 2 Trailer Has a Hidden, Disturbing Commercial

Update:

The Westworld in-universe websitetrailer contained a code that led to another secret that autoplays a disturbing, intriguing commercial for Delos. The idea is to sell Delos’ creations as an idyllic escape from reality. But in between the glittering vacation package images, glitches show the state of Westworld after the season one finale events–including imagery like a host breaking its own neck and bodies taking the place of railroad ties on a track. The cracks in Delos’ carefully constructed facade are showing.

Original post:

The latest Westworld trailer dropped on Thursday morning. And we, as ever, have questions. On Wednesday night, HBO released a 15-second teaser for the latest trailer (because of course they did), and what we got today revealed more than any promos that came before it. Dolores and Bernard are the stars of the show here as they discuss dreams and reality, though the Man in Black gets the best dialogue as he alludes to the very different stakes the hosts face now that they’ve freed themselves from the shackles of Robert Ford.

As we already knew, Maeve’s driving motivation this season will be finding her daughter, and it looks like she’ll get a little help from her buddy Hector. We also catch glimpses of Teddy, William, Charlotte, and Clementine. And, naturally, it’s all set to a terrific Ramin Djawadi rendition of Nirvana’s “Heart-Shaped Box.”

The lead-up to season two of Westworld has been nothing if not fascinating to watch. The network and the show’s co-creators have somehow toed the line between intentional vagueness and clever clue-dropping since the first season drew to a close, staging publicity stunts like SXSW’s Sweetwater experience and revealing details about the other Delos parks through an elaborate travel website. (The first teaser premiered in February during the Super Bowl, and it’s worth rewatching if you want to piece things together.)

April 22 is right around the corner, and now, we have nearly a month to form new theories and speculate on what’s to come. If you have any theories, I’ll just be over here putting together a cosplay for Dolores’ new outfit and shamelessly daydreaming about Jimmi Simpson.

What are you hoping to see in season two? Let us know in the comments!
