Over a decade after the last Star Trek TV series went off the air, the franchise is set to return next year on CBS All Access with a currently untitled Star Trek show produced by Bryan Fuller, Nicholas Meyer, and Rod Roddenberry, son of Trek creator Gene Roddenberry. And on Monday, CBS announced that the new series will begin filming this fall in Toronto (likely because that’s where Fuller’s other new series, American Gods, is also currently filming).
This just in! The new #STARTREK TV series will set course for Toronto and begin filming this fall. #CBSAllAccess

With the creative team in place and the production schedule set, the new Star Trek should begin casting soon. If previous Star Trek series are any indication, then the new show will probably cast a wide net for potential performers. Without a character breakdown, itâs difficult to predict who should be cast in specific roles, but we do have a few actors and actresses that weâd love to see on the new starship!
One thing to keep in mind is chemistry. The casting directors and the creative team are always looking to make sure that the chosen performers can easily play off of each other. Sometimes that means going with a lesser known actor or actress because they were simply a better fit for the part. That’s one of the reasons it’s rare for any series to have an all-star cast.
But if the new Star Trek went ahead with only previously established performers, we have our favorites. Head to the gallery below to see our dreamcast and reasons for picking them.
Obviously, this is by no means an official or even a comprehensive list, but feel free to share your Star Trek dream cast in the comment section below!
