Production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is underway, and thereâs a strong rumor that an unusual villain may be pitted against Peter Quill and the gang in the fun-filled follow up. Possible spoiler warning in t-minus five seconds, the big blockbuster is going to be getting a very, very big bad: Ego, The Living Planet. Ego is a sentient planet who first appeared in mid-60s Marvel Comics, originally a regular old inanimate planet, then granted life by The Stranger, and most commonly known for his off-again on-again rivalry-slash-alliance with Thor. Ego is also a member of the Elders of the Universe, a collective of bossy, ancient beings whoâve tussled with the Guardians on more than one occasion. Could the Elders be making an appearance? Could this have something to do with Peter Quillâs dad? This is still a rumor, and writer-director James Gunn is notorious for not addressing spoilery leaks, so fingers crossed we get to see this unique villain on the big screen.
