Weird Al is Lame in Latest Video

Did we ever tell you guys about the time we passed Ricky Gervais’ mother-in-law traffic? No? What about the time we saw George Clooney’s vet at a truck stop in Idaho? We really never told you this? Well, what about that time we shot the first video in Weird Al’s #8videos8days project that continues today with the artists latest, a song titled “Lame Claim to Fame,” done in the style of Southern Culture on the Skids. Check it out:

It’s very interesting to see the level complexity in some of these videos. Stop motion is no easy feat to achieve, but we’re glad that’s where the artist went for “Lame Claim to Fame” because it fits perfect with the scrap-book nature of the song itself. Also, the idea of lame claims like this are just a little stalkery by nature, and that makes them creepy, which is some inherently beautiful about stop motion, it’s inherently just a little bit creepy, so just all around this video for #8videos8days is perfection.

Tomorrow is the last day in the Weird Al saga for his new album Mandatory Fun, and there are four songs it could be: “My Own Eyes,” “NOW That’s What I Call Polka!,” “Inactive” and “Jackson Park Express.” Personally, we’re pulling for either “My Own Eyes” or “Inactive” because we’d love to see Weird Al get a little more rock on before everything comes to an end.

What do you think of the new video for “Lame Claim to Fame”? Let us know in the comments below.

You forgot “Mission Statement,” the CSN pastiche.  That is the one I am hoping for tomorrow!

  8. I was going to say, “WAY too much like Southern Culture on the Skids ‘Camel Walk’ but not enough to be a parody, so….WTF?!?”  Then I saw that they’re tagged in the post so maybe an homage?
