It may be Saturday, but that isn’t going to stop Weird Al Yankovic from continuing his #8videos8days project that currently features videos for “Tacky,” “Word Crimes,” “Foil,” “Handy,” and “Sports Song.” Today’s addition to the campaign is the artist’s “First World Problems,” done in the style of the Pixies. The term itself has taken on a weird usage over the years. More often than not now, it’s stopped being used for things displayed in this video, and begun being used for people who ironically want to complain about the advancement of modern living. There is definitely a place and time where the first world problems complaint gets overused, but Weird Al hits it perfectly in this video and finds the items for which it is totally appropriate. Also, this video contains a puppy, so it gets an automatic win as one of the top videos to be released so far.

As far as promotional campaigns go for new albums, this has, so far, been one of the best we’ve seen in years. These Weird Al videos are giving us all a reason to get out of bed in the morning, and they are giving us even more reason to share them. For the internet generation, they are perfectly constructed and we can’t wait to see what the final two videos in the run are going to be.
