You know the phrase “scared ****less?” Well it’s not just a turn of phrase, it comes from a real phenomenon where someone is so frightened they lose control of their bowels and as a result…you know what, you probably don’t need this concept explained to you. It’s probably self-explanatory.

But what you might (apparently?) need, especially if you play the first-person shooter/zombie horror game Outlast 2, is a way to deal with such a situation. So, you’ll possibly be interested in investing in this (honestly) totally real Kickstarter for an adult diaper to wear when playing.

We present Underscares from Red Barrels.

These things are no joke (well, yes, they are, but they do exist), because Red Barrels actually developed these with wearing and (oh god) using them in mind.

“In partnership with local designers, we developed a diaper prototype that combines practicality, comfort and style so gamers can experience abject terror without worrying about dirtying their egos (or their couches).”

Now, we have no idea how often this “situation” is really happening to gamers that play Outlast 2, but we do know the Kickstarter, which is hoping to raise $40,000 by December 8, is currently sitting at $8,700 from almost 160 backers.

So the surprising answer would seem to be “more than zero.”

The minimum pledge that will get you a pair of the basic Underscares (and the accompanying Outlast 2 Steam key), is $55, but for $75 you get the Deluxe pair. And really, if you’re investing in the ability to soil yourself while playing a video game, why go for the cheap model?

We promise we’re only guessing, but we’re pretty sure that’s not the time to try and save a few bucks.
