We Have So Many Feelings About James Franco’s Comedy Show, MAKING A SCENE WITH JAMES FRANCO

We’d honestly expect nothing less from James Franco at this point, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have any fewer feelings on the matter. The doer of all of the things (literally all of them that’s not even me being my normally hyperbolic, overstating self), Franco has been given the opportunity to get his comedy TV on thanks to AOL. Making a Scene with James Franco is the series, and its premise, and newly released trailer, are a thing of kinda funny, awkward, confounding beauty.

Wait a second! Are we excited about — rather than eye-roll-y — about a James Franco thing? Well color us surprised (and also, admittedly, maybe a bit relieved)!

Debuting with three episodes September 17, the AOL Originals, well, original series gives Franco the power to mash-up, remix, reboot, and restyle scenes, themes, and moments from films classic and new, creating a wacky world wherein, say, Pulp Fiction is a romantic comedy or Grease a film noir. At first the whole thing all seems so Franco-y (Ugh, another weird thing from James Franco? He just haaaaaaad to have a TV show, didn’t he? Poppycock and nonsense and tomfoolery!), but we’d be lying if we didn’t admit we were the teensiest bit intrigued. And then the trailer made us somehow laugh at yet-another Napoleon Dynamite joke, so, y’know: it accomplished a very hard thing!

Whatever the case, we’re intrigued, Franco. You’ve won this battle. For NOW!

What do you think of the series’ premise? Let us know in the comments.

  1. Christian Guthermann says:

Why do so many people hate James Franco? Is he considered a bad actor for some of his roles? Which?

  2. Scott says:

That actually does look pretty funny.

Too bad its on AOL.  This looks like it should have been on FUSE or VH1…some cable network.

Do you have to pay AOL to see this, because if you do, I’m out.  Otherwise, I look forward to watching.
