Last year, The CWâs signature superhero series The Flash and Arrow featured a two-night crossover event that pit the titular heroes against Rainbow Raider and Captain Boomerang. This year, they will have to contend with an adversary who represents a much deadlier threatâand on a much grander scale than last year’s villains.
The CW has released the very spoiler heavy synopses for this year’s two-night crossover between The Flash and Arrow. And hoo boy, do we mean it: there are a lot of spoilers here. Donât say that you werenât warned!
This year, The Flash and Arrow are laying the groundwork for the third superhero show on The CW: DCâs Legends of Tomorrow. While both Arrow and The Flash have introduced characters who will be headlining the new series, the crossover will center on Hawkgirl (Ciara Renée) and Hawkman (Falk Hentschel) as they become targets for the immortal Vandal Savage (Casper Crump).
Hawkgirlâs alter ego, Kendra Saunders, has already appeared twice on The Flashâonce in the first season finale and more recently as a love interest for Cisco (Carlos Valdes). And that’s where The Flash‘s half of the crossover begins.
“In its second major crossover event with Arrow, Vandal Savage (guest star Casper Crump) arrives in Central City and sets his sights on Kendra Saunders (guest star Ciara Renée). After Vandal attacks Kendra and Cisco, they turn to Barry for help. Realizing how dangerous Vandal is, Barry takes Kendra to Star City and asks Oliver and team to hide her until he can figure out how to stop Vandal. However, things quickly go from bad to worse when a man with wings, AKA Hawkman (guest star Falk Hentschel) shows up and flies off with Kendra. Meanwhile, Harrison develops a serum to make Barry run faster and asks Jay (guest star Teddy Sears) to test it out.”
And on Arrow‘s half of the crossover, the assembled heroes even call upon Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) for an assist! That seems to indicate a certain level of desperation from the assembled heroes.
“Oliver and Barry Allen take Kendra Saunders and Carter Hall to a remote location to keep them hidden from Vandal Savage while they figure out how to defeat him. Malcolm arranges a meeting between Vandal, Green Arrow, and The Flash that doesnât go as planned. Meanwhile, Felicity, Thea, Diggle, and Laurel work with Team Flash to come up with a weapon powerful enough to destroy Vandal Savage.”
The Flashâs half of the crossover will be called “Legends of Today,” while the corresponding Arrow episode will be “Legends of Yesterday.” The Flash will kickoff the crossover event on Tuesday, December 1, before it comes to a conclusion on Arrowâs episode airing the following night, Wednesday, December 2.
