You aren’t just you — you are a multitude. Trillions of microorganisms colonize your body, go wherever you go, and stay wherever you stay. So it shouldn’t be a surprise that a public place which 5.5 million people a day pass though, like the New York subway system, reflects our bustling micrbiome.
In the video above, I talk about a new study appearing in the new journal Cell Systems and reported on by the New York Times that swiped the surfaces of the New York subway to find out how our travelers colonize where we travel.
The scientists couldn’t identify with DNA nearly half of what they found.
