We Ask OUTLANDER’s Cast and Creators to Go Back in Time and Change History

We probably don’t need to tell you that the end of Outlander‘s first season was a bit of a dark and dangerous doozy. What with all the, well…y’know and other less-than-great stuff that happened to poor Jamie Fraser and his wife Claire as they tried to escape the no good, very baddery of Black Jack Randall. So we decided, you know what? This cast deserves a bit of a break from discussing and dissecting all that dark night business. Especially now that they’ve decided to go ahead and attempt the impossible: to change the course of history and aid the Jacobite Rising of 1745. A pretty ridiculous and audacious thing to do — just ask Geillis Duncan (cough).

So while at San Diego Comic-Con this year, we chatted up Caitriona Balfe (Claire Randall/Fraser) Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser), Outlander author Diana Gabaldon, and series showrunner Ronald Moore, we kept things silly and audacious — asking them to pick something they’d go back and change in history if they could, and what they’d do to add a bit of levity to the series after the darkness of last season. Spoiler alert: their answers didn’t disappoint. Because we all know that the Macarena, guacamole, and girlfriends are the cornerstones of any ol’ fashioned time-traveling trip.

What would you go back and change in history if you could? Let us hear your thoughts in the comments.
