Watch Wolverine’s 30-Plus Years of Onscreen Evolution

After your various Spider-, Super- and Bat-men, there might not be a superhero more recognizable than Wolverine. We’re certain that out of all the X-Men, he’s the one most likely to be recognized by the most casual of fans. Ol’ Stab-Knuckles (that’s one of his nicknames, right?) has always been a favorite in the comics, so it’s no wonder he’s also seen over 30 years of TV and movie appearances.

In honor of the upcoming release of X-Men: Apocalypse, YouTube’s Burger Fiction has given the internet another fantastic super-cut. This time, we see Wolverine’s evolution from his humble animated beginnings as a Canadian character with an inexplicable Australian accent to his most recent portrayals by an actual Australian actor.

Most impressive about the character is how steadily his iconic look held throughout the years. Sure, his accent was corrected to the more gravelly one we’d expect and accept for a near immortal bad-ass and his claws have changed from time to time. But his costume was always pretty steadfast. It even played a smaller role in the live action movies, earning tongue-in-cheek nods and actually appearing in an ultimately cut scene.

Burger Fiction’s super-cut, much like their recent Spider-Man installment, brings us all the Wolverine we could ask for, including some lesser known sources like his appearances in Lego, motion comic, and Robot Chicken forms.

With so many versions to choose from, it’s hard to pick a favorite. But give it a try anyway! What are some of your favorite incarnations of Wolverine? Did Burger Fiction miss any? Let’s discuss in the comments below!
