Watch Two Trailers For a New Martin Scorsese Short Starring Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio

Legendary director Martin Scorsese is known for many things – one of the most prominent of which is his penchant for working with the same actors across various films. But, over the years, there are two in particular the Shutter Island helmer has grown most fond of: Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio. However, despite his close bond with both actors, the trio’s never gotten together for a project at the same time… until now.

Thanks to a new short film, we’re finally going to get to watch Scorsese, DiCaprio and De Niro come together in a very meta sort of way. Check out these two trailers for more:

So, essentially what these are, are commercials for two casinos owned by the same company: The City of Dreams in Manila and Studio City in Macau. However, the short they’re advertising, titled The Audition, is very much real and also features an appearance by Brad Pitt.

As for when we’ll get to see the finished product (which apparently took two days to shoot), all we can say is the official press release is promising it for sometime later this. However, we’d bet it makes its debut at some kind of festival or in theater promotion before ultimately making its way online.

If there’s one thing we know about Hollywood, it’s that one short meeting of minds can often lead to much, much more. So, with any luck, this short that brought the gang together will have sparked something in them to take things to the next level in a future film. That would be cool.

What do you think of The Audition? Let us know in the comments below.
